Taminul Islam (he/him)
Hello, This is Taminul Islam. I am currently serving as a Research Assistant at the BASE: Bridging AI, Systems, and Environment Research lab. I am also pursuing my Ph.D. in Computer Science at School of Computing, Southern Illinois University Carbondale, IL, United States. My research interest lies in the Computer Vision and Deep Learning approaches in agriculture focusing on semantic segmentation, object detection and tracking. I am actively seeking internships as a machine learning or deep learning engineer, data science engineer, where I can contribute to cutting-edge research and development projects that solve computer vision and AI problems.
Biography
Taminul Islam received his Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) with first-class honors in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) from Daffodil International University, Bangladesh. During his undergraduate studies, he served as a Research Assistant at the university. After graduation, he began his professional career as a Research and Development Assistant. His academic excellence earned him a Full Free Scholarship throughout his B.Sc. program at Daffodil International University.
His research interests focus on Computer Vision and Deep Learning applications in healthcare and agriculture. He has published several notable research papers in natural language processing, cybersecurity, healthcare, and agriculture domains through prestigious publishers including IEEE, Springer, Taylor & Francis, and Elsevier. He has contributed as a Researcher at two research labs: STEMResearch.AI and AI-Explain You Science (AI-EYS). His academic service includes reviewing over 25 articles for various journals and conferences. As a mentor, he has guided approximately 80 students in various research projects, with six of his mentees now pursuing Ph.D. degrees in the United States. He actively collaborates on several research projects in computer science and maintains professional membership with ACM.
